CG invites alumni back for event

Center Grove Alumni & Friends will host a homecoming celebration from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Friday for former graduates as well as others involved in the Center Grove community.

Food from Smokehouse Catering will be served starting at 5 p.m. prior to the Trojans’ game against Pike. A high school tour will be conducted at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20, which includes food and a ticket to the game. If people already have tickets to the game, dinner can be purchased for $14. All tickets can be purchased online at centergrovefoundation.org/center-grove-homecoming.

The event is another opportunity to bring the Center Grove community together and become a more cohesive alumni group, said Jennifer Rakow, executive director of the Center Grove Education Foundation, of which the alumni group is a part.

"The first thing we hope to do is connect with our alumni. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with those individuals. Some of those people, maybe they’ve moved away, and they haven’t been back. Or maybe they still live here in the community, and for a variety of reasons, they don’t get back," she said. "So the opportunity to extend an invitation, hopefully that give people a reason to come back."

The Center Grove Alumni & Friends is an organization open to open to Center Grove alumni, current or former school board members, administrators, faculty or staff, and parents and grandparents of Center Grove High School graduates. Efforts include special events such as the homecoming tailgate, scholarships to local students, and an archive display in the high school. Plans are also in place to create a Hall of Fame for exemplary Center Grove graduates, Rakow said.
