Franklin man with criminal history sentenced on felony

A Franklin man with a history of drug arrests and charges has been sentenced to probation and some prison time for a recent crime.

Dustin Levi Patterson, 26, recently pleaded guilty to a felony count of possession of a syringe and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance for an event that happened this summer.

Superior Court 3 Judge Lance Hamner sentenced Patterson to two years of probation and 91 days in jail for the felony and 91 days in jail for the misdemeanor last month. He will spend a few weeks in jail, since the sentences run concurrently and he received credit for jail time.

Patterson was arrested and charged during the summer for having a needle on him and amphetamine salts, a controlled substance, in the vehicle where he was a passenger. A gun was also found in the vehicle during the traffic stop in Greenwood.

He may be facing more charges.

In March, he was arrested as part of the largest methamphetamine find in Franklin’s recent history during a traffic stop.

He was taken into custody on multiple felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, dealing methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after Franklin police found more than $9,000 worth of methamphetamine in a car he was riding in.

He was arrested, but no charges have been filed in that case. The case is still under review, said Andrew Foster, deputy prosecutor.

Indiana Department of Correction records show that Patterson, 1549 Younce St., was released from jail in December after serving about 13 months on a burglary conviction.
