Franklin man charged with child molestation

A Franklin man faces child molestation charges after a 12 year old told police he forced her to have sex with him.

Joshua Boyce, 19, was arrested Thursday on a charge of child molesting for an incident that happened in June at a Franklin home. Child molestation is a level 3 felony. If convicted, Boyce faces up to 16 years in prison.

Franklin Police began investigating the crime on June 21. The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges last week in Johnson County Superior Court 3.

The victim told police on June 18, Boyce came into her room and forced her to have sex. She told police she told him “no,” but she could not push him off of her because he was 19, according to court documents.

She told police when she told him she didn’t want to do it, he said, “The faster we do it, the faster I leave.” The victim said she told him several times she did not want to have sex with him and attempted to push him off, but he would not stop, court documents said.

She told police she knew Boyce because he had played a sport with her brother and previously lived in their Franklin neighborhood.

On the evening of the incident, Boyce walked into her home without knocking or ringing the door bell, according to court documents.

A witness told police she came into the bedroom to check on the victim and saw Boyce on top of the victim. The witness told Boyce to leave and that the girl was 12 years old, court documents said.

Both the victim and the witness told police Boyce knew their ages before the incident, according to court documents.

Detectives investigating the case were unable to contact Boyce, court documents said.
