Purdue offering master gardener classes

Gardeners can harvest a bountiful crop of information through the Purdue Extension Master Gardener program.

Whether you have a green thumb already and want to learn more or you are a beginning gardener seeking basic information, this course will help. Master gardeners share their information at multiple community events.

The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon once a week on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 8 at the Purdue Extension office at the north end of the Johnson County fairgrounds in Franklin.

The course runs for 14 weeks. Among topics covered will be soil and plant science, diagnosis of plant problems, pesticide safety, landscaping, and growing vegetables, flowers and fruits. Instructors include experts from around the state.

The cost is $150 per person and covers detailed information packets on each topic, a notebook to store those handouts, name badges and refreshments. A discounted fee is available for couples.
