Traffic signal work along SR 135 starts today

Multiple traffic signals at intersections along State Road 135 as well as one on State Road 37 will be replaced this week.

The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Michiana Contracting Inc. will begin the $104,500 traffic signal preemption project today.

Preemption devices will be added at five intersections, in addition to a flasher at the Bargersville Fire Department. When activated, the devices will interrupt normal traffic signal operations to allow emergency vehicles to proceed through an intersection more quickly and under safer conditions, with the intent of decreasing response times.

Work will take place at the following intersections in the next two weeks:

  • State Road 135 and State Road 44
  • State Road 135 and State Road 144
  • State Road 135 and Whiteland Road
  • State Road 135 and Clary Boulevard
  • State Road 37 and State Road 144

All work is expected to be done by Dec. 20. The Indiana Department of Transportation expects minimal impact to traffic flow, according to a news release.
