Franklin police have identified Saturday’s shooting victim as Donovan Isaiah Burdine, 18, of Franklin.

Burdine was shot to death Saturday night in an alley behind the Boys and Girls Club of Franklin in what police believe was a drug deal gone bad. Two suspects were arrested but not charged in the shooting, which is being investigated as a homicide, said Kirby Cochran, Franklin police chief.

Emilio Luis Garcia, 20, was arrested on charges of murder and robbery. He is suspected of being the shooter, said Kirby Cochran, Franklin police chief.

Police also arrested Roger Lewis Miller, 21, on a misdemeanor charge of assisting a criminal. He is believed to be the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting.

Garcia is held without bond. Miller was released on $250 bond.

At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Franklin police were dispatched to a report of several shots fired in an alley in the 100 block of Hurricane Street, according to dispatch records.

Police found Burdine dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

An autopsy was performed Monday. The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds, Cochran said in a statement Tuesday.
