Community to hold memorial cruise for Mustang lover

Leroy Lasiter had a lifelong love for the roar of a Mustang.

Friends, families and other supporters will gather today to honor the Greenwood resident’s memory with a memorial cruise, organized by the Mustang Club of Indianapolis.

The cruise starts at noon today, with participants meeting at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Road, Greenwood. They’ll travel down Fairview Road, past the Lasiter residence, and end at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. SR 135, Greenwood. Cars will stop near Lasiter’s graveside, in the Throne of Valor in the northeast corner of the cemetery, for the presentation of "Taps" and a military salute.

This is not a social gathering and all participants will remain in vehicles.

Lasiter, 87, died April 23. He was a lifelong resident of Greenwood and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He had a 39-year affiliation with the Mustang Club of Indianapolis, where he served as president and vice president for five years as well as a member of the board of directors for numerous years.
