Regina Clara Wingard

Regina Clara Wingard, 80, of Greenwood, IN, went to be with Jesus in Heaven on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Regina was born June 30, 1939, to Gennaro and Mildred (Griffin) DePalma. Regina was born in Kokomo, IN, into a large, loving family. She grew up with 12 siblings. After her schooling, she began raising her 4 children. She worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, in Kokomo, as a nursing assistant for several years and then started working as a waitress. She enjoyed waitressing. Regina was a very sociable person and she always had a smile for her customers. She enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. One of those new friends was a wonderful man by the name of Vernon J. Wingard. Vernon and Regina were married in 1974. He was a very kind, thoughtful, and loving husband to Regina. They were together 34 years, until his passing on August 11, 2008.

Prior to her retiring, Regina worked at Cottage Corner, in Kokomo, and D&D Club, in Franklin.

In her leisure time, Regina enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, bowling, decorating for the holidays, flying with Vernon in his airplane, going on vacations, and most of all, having coffee while visiting with family and friends.

Regina always said, “I love all of my family – I love all of yez!” We will miss her dearly.

Regina is survived by her children: David (Shirley) McDonald, Paul (Barb) McDonald, Carl (Boe) McDonald, and Carmella (Charlie) Bell; her grandchildren: Amy Garza, Paul McDonald, James (Mary) Montgomery, Ryan (Leah) McDonald, Wesley Montgomery-Bell, and Charlie Bell; her great-grandchildren: Joseph & Angelina Garza, Kat & Sammie Montgomery, and Adam & Anna McDonald; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Vernon J. Wingard; great-grandson Kevin Garza; sisters, Mary Estella, Angelina, Margaret, JoJo, and Catherine; brothers, James, Tony, Duke, Paul, Frank, Don, and Tom

Funeral Services for Regina will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Jessen Funeral Home – Whiteland Chapel with burial at Youngs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, visitation and services will be limited to 25 people or less and social distancing must be adhered to.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home – Whiteland Chapel.
