Center Grove reveals graduation plans

Center Grove High School will hold its graduation July 11, one week before the other five public high schools in Johnson County.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. at Ray Skillman Stadium, with a rain date of 2 p.m. July 12. A live stream and video archive of the ceremony will be available for students and families who can’t make it to the ceremony. Center Grove High School Principal Jeffry Henderson announced the decision in an email sent to families of seniors Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors and their parents filled out a survey last week about how best to hold graduation, district spokesperson Stacy Conrad said.

School officials also based their decision on the state’s reopening guidelines. If all goes as planned, there will be no restrictions on gatherings starting July 4. Administrators will make a decision on how many guests are allowed to attend per student closer to the graduation date, Henderson said in the email.

The high school will also honor seniors by displaying their photos on the electronic marquee outside the high school’s front entrance during the week of May 25, according to the email.
