FRANKLIN
Lois Martelle (Russell) Shadle, 98, passed away on May 12, 2020 at her residence at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community in Franklin. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.
Lois was born on November 12, 1921 in Hartford City, Indiana to Henry Gossett Russell and Laura Blanche (Johnson) Russell. She married Joseph Wesley Powell in 1945. He preceded her in passing in 1953. She later married Robert Dorman Shadle in 1979 until his passing in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Nanci (Powell) Longbrake (Steve); granddaughters, Abigail Borron and Julie Wade; grandsons, Jason Powell and Bryan Horrom; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Henry and Blanche; husbands, Joseph and Robert; son, Jerry Joe Powell; and brothers, Harold Russell and Chester Russell.
Lois worked as a Medical Administrative Assistant to two Hartford City doctors.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. She enjoyed watercolor painting, making stained glass art, traveling and gardening.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
