Offord Burkhart

Offord Burkhart, age 85 passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at Compass Park in Franklin surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Nineveh.

Offord was born February 24, 1935, in Lily, Kentucky, to Frank and Mallie (York) Burkhart. He married Anna V. (Vandeventer) Burkhart on February 27, 1957 in Stilesville. She lovingly survives after 63 years devoted years of marriage.

Offord retired in 1997 from Mayflower Moving Company in Indianapolis where he was employed as a Mechanic for forty-four years. He was a member of the Locust Grove Pentecostal Church and a 44 year past member of the Teamsters Union, Local 193.

Offord was a true gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. He learned early in life that you feel better by facing each day with a smile. Offord was fond of playing tricks on his grandchildren and they grew to expect nothing less. Some of his favorite memories involved family vacations at Myrtle Beach with his grandchildren. Offord also enjoyed pitching horseshoes, fishing, hunting and watching sports. He was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.

Offord is survived by his wife, Anna, children: Kimberly A. (Roger) Bradley & Gene Burkhart, both of Nineveh; sister: Hazel Wyatt of Trafalgar; and grandchildren: Jessica Bradley of Nineveh; David Lee Bradley of Trafalgar & Eugene Burkhart of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers: John, Ernest, Felix, Estel, Arnold, Junior & Delbert Burkhart.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center located at 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing will apply. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
