Jon E. Williams, 77, of Greenwood, IN, passed away on June 1, 2020, in Bonita Springs, FL.

Celebration of his life will be held at a later date and place to be determined by his family.

Jon was born in Evansville, IN, to Silas and Mamie Williams on March 6, 1943. He married Daris (Wright) Williams on June 4, 1961, in Anderson, IN.

Jon graduated from Southern College in 1963. He earned a master’s degree in American History from the University of Missouri in 1965. In 1966, Jon began teaching high school history in Perry Township at Southport High School and then Perry Meridian High School when it opened. Jon graduated from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis with his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1976.

Jon became an attorney for VanValer, Wicker, Tandy, and Greathouse. He formed the firm Williams, Barrett and Wilkowski, LLP, and has been a partner practicing law in Greenwood, IN. Jon was widely respected for his work in Probate, Estate Planning, Financial Institutions, Health Care and Elder Law. He served as Chairman of the Probate, Trust and Real Property Section of the Indiana State Bar and was designated by his peers as a Super Lawyer in 2008.

Jon loved the Johnson County community and was heavily active in many civic and charitable organizations, including the Johnson County Community Foundation and the Greenwood Rotary Club, where he served as a past President. He was also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Johnson Memorial Hospital from 2004-2009 and Vice Chairman of the Citizens Bank Board from 2012 to 2016.

Jon was also an active member of the Glendale Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he had served as a deacon and church elder for many years.

Jon is survived by his wife, Daris Williams; his children, Whitney Wilkowski (John), Jon Williams, Jr. (Toni), and Courtney Krudy Matteson (Ryan); and granddaughters, Emily Wilkowski, Caroline Wilkowski, Alyanna Krudy, and Zara Krudy.
