Vintage helicopter to be on display Saturday in Franklin

A vintage UH-1B “Huey” helicopter will do a fly-over and be on display in Franklin this Fourth of July.

The Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center will display the vintage but fully functional helicopter from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at its facility in Franklin. The event will include a fly-over, and those visiting can view the helicopter on display.

The helicopter is from Columbus Indiana Huey Helicopter, a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving military helicopters, educating the community and honoring all military veterans.

The display is free to the public at the memorial center, located at 300 South Morton Street in Franklin. Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett, the Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard and Rob Shilts, executive director of Franklin Heritage, will give opening remarks.
