Greenwood man charged with sexual misconduct

A Greenwood man is charged with a felony after he carried on a 7-month relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Timothy Allen Rose, 30, told police in April he developed a friendship that “got out of control, got too familiar and got a little out of hand,” according to a probable cause affidavit filed June 30 in Johnson County Superior Court 3. Police arrested rose on a warrant Monday, and he was taken to the Johnson County jail.

Prosecutors charged Rose with sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony. He could face up to 12 years in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted.

Greenwood police were made aware of the inappropriate relationship April 27 after photos of the victim with Rose were found on the victim’s phone, according to court documents.

Both Rose and the victim said they met in September 2019 on an app called “Monkey” before the conversation moved to Snapchat, another app. The relationship became sexual in January and continued until April. Both said they had sex at least three times. The victim said she and Rose became boyfriend and girlfriend on Sept. 25, 2019, court documents said.

Rose would take the victim to the park, the mall and eventually, his apartment. He also took her to her 14th birthday party, according to court documents.

Rose told police he befriended the young girl because she was struggling with a bad past, but that he knew she was 14 and took responsibility for his actions, court documents said.

Rose is held on a $2,400 cash bond.
