Woman taken by LifeLine after crashing in Franklin field

A woman was taken by LifeLine with severe injuries after driving off the road into a field and crashing into a utility pole Friday morning in Franklin.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Bargersville Community Fire Department and Franklin Fire Department were dispatched about 10 a.m. Friday to Division Road, between County Road 100 West and Centerline Road in Franklin on a reported accident with injury, according to the sheriff’s office.

When they arrived, deputies found a severely injured woman trapped inside her car, chief deputy Andrew Barnhart said.

Initial observations appeared to show the vehicle swerved several times while eastbound on Division Road before leaving the roadway, striking a utility pole and overturning in the field. Deputies and firefighters did not locate any additional passengers in the car, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman was transported by LifeLine to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where the extent of her injuries are unknown at this time. The woman’s name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

There is no indication that alcohol or other drugs played a role in the accident but the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.

Division Road was closed for more than an hour.
