FRANKLIN

James H. “Jim” Carter, 73, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born November 29, 1946 in Indianapolis to James Jesse Carter and Bessie Jane (Morrow) Carter.

He married his wife, Shirley, on April 14, 1979 in Greenwood.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Carter of Franklin; two daughters, Kim Grider of Fishers and Crissy Carter Receveur of Indianapolis; one son, Jason Mason of Bedford, IN; one brother, Jerry D. (Carol) Carter of Fortville, IN; and a grandson, Logan Grider of Fishers.

Jim was employed for over 35 years at Franklin College in maintenance.

He was actively involved at the Johnson County Shrine Club, assisting with most of the functions. He was a Past President of the Club, and also was named member of the year three times.

Jim was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #107 F. & A.M., Murat Shrine, VFW, American Legion, and the Greenwood Moose Lodge.

Calling hours will take place from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street. A Masonic Service will take place at 3 PM at the funeral home. Due to recent COVID-19 mandates, all guests are required to wear face coverings or masks at visitations and services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Murat Shrine, 510 N. New Jersey Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
