BARGERSVILLE, IN.

Everett Lynn Montgomery (Lynn), 72, of Bargersville, IN, passed away in his sleep on April 10, 2020 in Bargersville IN.

Lynn was born in Indianapolis to William and Irene Montgomery on January 30th, 1948. He attended George Washington High School graduating in 1966. Lynn (Monty) worked as a Supervisor for Allison Transmission for 38 years and most recently worked part-time for the Andy Mohr’s Truck Center.

He was a member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood since 1982, serving as a deacon and choir member, and served in children’s ministry. Lynn never shied away from sharing his love of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed routine bible devotionals and relished the opportunity to share God’s word with his church small group.

Lynn played basketball in high school and continued playing competitively into his 30’s. His love of sports never wavered as he aged. He was active in Center Grove little league sports while raising his two sons and continued supporting his grandchildren, nieces, nephews in their athletic endeavors. Lynn cherished performing arts as a member of the George Washington High School Continentalairs show choir. Lynn enjoyed watching his grandchildren and extended family perform in school plays, bands, and various activities.

He was raised in modest means and rarely enjoyed the luxuries of life in his childhood. Once established, he loved to explore the United States and the world with his family and friends. He visited 38 states and 20 countries, always with his wife Judy by his side. He would frequently bring his extended family to the warmer southern weather in order to escape the winter cold. As a grandpa, he cherished opportunities to take his grandchildren for swims.

Lynn rarely missed a family member or friends birthday party, holiday gathering, anniversary celebration, wedding, or reunion. His smiles were infectious, and his stories were verbose. Lynn put millions of miles on his vehicles just to spend a few precious hours with his mother, sisters, children, grandchildren, sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. If you met Lynn, there’s a good chance you became his friend.

More than anything on earth, Lynn truly loved Judy. He seemed to still have a teenager crush even up to his departure from earth. He held Judy in the highest regard with her only being a close second to God (which is debatable to most).

Lynn is survived by his wife, Judy (Brown) Montgomery of Bargersville and sons, Bob (Julie) Montgomery of Fishers and Bill (Tina) Montgomery of Indianapolis. Other survivors include sisters Linda (Montgomery) Cable and Marsha (Montgomery) Ballard of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Tyler Montgomery of North Manchester, IN., Tristan Montgomery of Indianapolis, Adrian Montgomery of Indianapolis, and Josh Montgomery of Fishers, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Montgomery of Indianapolis and Irene Montgomery of Anderson, IN.

Memorial donations may be made in his Lynn’s name to Samaritan’s Purse. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Samaritan’s Purse for their dedicated work in piecing families lives together when tragedy strikes. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/
