FRANKLIN, INDIANA
Eli Ronald “Ron” Jewell, 80, of Franklin, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Eli was born on Monday, March 18, 1940 in Franklin, Indiana to William Ernest Jewell and Joan Jane (Hazen) Jewell.
He enjoyed spending time with his late wife Geneva C. (Mattingly) Jewell, who was the love of his life from beginning to end. They were married on January 30, 1960 in Franklin, Indiana and enjoyed going to flea markets, garage sales, and taking trips together.
Eli was employed by Kawneer and Green Lawn Cemetery.
He enjoyed playing softball and was a coach for a co-ed team with his son “JJ.” He also coached his grandson’s T-ball team. Eli loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband to Geneva, a loving father and grandfather of 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the company of his best friend Larry. He was a man of faith. Eli was very much loved and will be dearly missed.
Eli was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest Jewell and Joan Jane (Hazen) Jewell; his loving wife, Geneva C. (Mattingly) Jewell; his brothers, Elmer George Jewell, Elvin Wesley Jewell, Edwin Garner Jewell, Earl Eugene Jewell, Everett Thomas Jewell, Eldon Denton Jewell, Elbert Donald Jewell, Ernest Lloyd Jewell, Ervin Henry Jewell; and his half-brother, Wilson Hodges.
Eli is survived by his six children, Elizabeth (Robert) Cooper, Terry Pirtle, “JJ”, Brenda (Randy) Calhoun, of Franklin, Kim (Jeff) Cantwell, of Bargersville, and Patti (Larry) Austin, of Greenwood.
A funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, with Pastor Fred Brown officiating. Burial to follow the funeral at Youngs Creek Cemetery in Franklin.
