FOUNTAINTOWN
Mrs. Shirley H. Wallace, Fountaintown, passed away on the early morning of Friday, August 7, 2020 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. She was 86. Shirley was born July 6, 1934 in Bargersville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Wiley Hobart and Mary Margaret ‘Richardson’ Kelso.
Shirley attended Center Grove High School in Greenwood and was a member of the graduating Class of 1950. She had also graduated from Beauty School but chose to be a homemaker and rear her children and care for her home. She enjoyed baking and canning as well as working in her yard. She could often be found mowing and looking after her flowers.
Shirley was a member of the Eastern Star Union Village Chapter No. 84 where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star Shelbyville Chapter No. 519. She was an Honored Lady of the Grand Commandery of the Knights Templar as well as a member of the American Legion Post 70. Shirley was also a member of the Fairland Christian Church.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jack Wallace, whom she married July 7, 1957; her daughters, Robin (Mike) Whaley, Kelly Wallace, Kim (Craig) Eriksen and Autumn (Frank) Martin; her grandchildren, Josh Whaley, Amanda Whaley, Evan Hodges, Craig Hodges, Jonathon Wallace, Ashley Eriksen and Chad Eriksen; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Katie (Richard) Wallace and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her son, Rolland C. Wallace; a brother, Robert H. Kelso and a sister, Luara Neeley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 pm, Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the funeral home.
