Crime stoppers offers reward for information in Greenwood shooting

Greenwood police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects involved in a shooting last week at a local gas station, and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward.

Greenwood police responded about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 12 to a report of shots fired at the Thornton’s gas station on U.S. 31 and Stop 18 Road.

One witness told police they saw a red vehicle pull into the parking lot and fire several shots at a gray SUV, according to a Greenwood Police Department report. The witness said a Black man who appeared to be in his 30s was driving the red vehicle, and the shooter, who appeared to be a biracial man also in his 30s, was in the passenger seat. The shooter was wearing a black hat.

One of the gun shots blew through the glass of the gas station’s exit door. Both vehicles fled south on U.S. 31 after the shooting, the report said.

Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana is offering a cash reward of up $1,000 to anyone who has information that leads to the suspect’s arrest. The shooter has been described as a Black man driving a red Honda Civic, according to a news release from Crime Stoppers.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers by calling 317-215-5900 with the case number #200821SR. Only tips made to Crime Stoppers will be eligible for the reward, the news release said.
