INDIANAPOLIS
Phillip Gary Shortt, 82 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away August 24, 2020. Gary was born January 18, 1939 in Pound, Virginia to the late Delbert Earl & Geneva Lockie (Holyfield) Short. He was a previous member of the Greenwood American Legion Post 252 and was very active in the Greenwood Moose Lodge 2079, where he served Lieutenant Governor for two terms. Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma G. Shortt, his parents and a sister June.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky S. Shortt; children, Margaret S. Cagle, Gary W. Shortt, Terry G. Shortt, Natalie L. Snow; step children, Steve Peavler, Kim Cross, Nicky Glass; brother, Ronnie Short; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St. Greenwood. A celebration of Gary’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 28th at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
