GREENWOOD
Ian Joseph Santamaria passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 in Greenwood, IN. He was 62 years old. Ian was born in Bombay, India to the late Rose and Doctor John Santamaria.
Ian married Ruby, his wife of 32 years, and shortly thereafter moved to Greenwood, IN. Ian built a full and wonderful life filled with laughter, singing, dancing, soccer, and of course playing the guitar. Ian came to the United States with a dream and he fulfilled it.
He was a successful travel agent, an amazing soccer coach, and an even more devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a confident, charismatic, and selfless man, grounded in his faith. He took pride in teaching his family life’s most important values.
Ian was always the life of the party. A true Rockstar, he loved parties and was known to play his guitar or sing karaoke to bring people together and create memories. Ian was a valued member of the Greenwood community. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, owner of Greenwood Travel and Cruise, and co-founder of Greenwood International Football Association.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Zain (Taylor) Santamaria, and Chase Santamaria; brother Neil (Shanti) Santamaria, and sisters Brenda (Oscar) Viegas and Sheila Menezes, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church 335 S. Meridian St. Greenwood, IN 4614 on September 1st, 2020 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Due to recent COVID-19 mandates, all guests are required to wear face coverings or masks at visitations and services.
