WHITELAND, INDIANA

Joseph “Joe” Lee Lasiter ,77, of Whiteland Indiana, passed away on September 7th, 2020 at IU Methodist Hospital Hospice with his beloved wife Sharon by his side. He was born in Whiteland, Indiana to the late Henry Ellis and Thelma Louise (Taylor) Lasiter.

Joe went to high school in Whiteland Indiana, and after graduating from the Police Academy and working as a police officer, he later became the Town Marshall of New Whiteland. After a number of years on the police force, he made a career change and went into sales, and eventually retired from Ray Skillman Ford.

Joe was a member of the Free Masons, the Whiteland Church of Christ, and loved many things in life: softball, playing cards, fishing, camping, hunting, going to the flea markets, watching IU basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts, but what gave him the most joy was spending time with his 7 children, 21 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Over the last few years, he would speak fondly of going to Madison, Indiana with his family, hunting with them, and spending time in what he called “God’s Country.” Joe was always there to offer a kind word of support whenever needed, had a wonderful sense of humor, and an infectious laugh that won’t be forgotten.

Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother, his granddaughter Erika Jane Boner, and his son-in-law Leslie Cramblett.

In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his 3 brothers: John Lasiter (Carol), Jerry Lasiter, and James Lasiter (Pam), his 7 children: Jeff Boner, Scott Boner, Jill Cramblett, Stacey Prather (Jeff), Jay Lasiter (Nancy), Robin King (Jeff), and Darrell Lasiter, his 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the staff at IU Methodist Medical Center who gave such loving care and support during his illness.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Whiteland Church of Christ.
