Carson R. Dulaney, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, September 26, 2020 at his home in Franklin.

Carson was born August 20, 1934 in Duffield, Virginia, to his parents, the late Everette and Louise (Lane) Dulaney. He retired from Arvin Automotive in Franklin where he worked for over 40 years as a Machinist.

Carson was a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin. He enjoyed restoring old antique tractors, deer and turkey hunting and watching old western movies. Carson was known for putting out a big garden every summer and would share his vegetables with the whole community. Carson will be missed by his family, especially his grandchildren who called him “Poppy”.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty F. (Holcomb) Dulaney, whom he married on July 18, 1955 in Gate City, Virginia. Carson was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry L. Dulaney.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Stasha (Tony) Deem of Edinburgh, Amanda (Shaz) Dulaney-Abdur Raheem of Franklin, Aaren Dulaney of Edinburgh and Jerad (Megan) Dulaney of Chillicothe, Ohio; great grandchildren, Karson, Hollie, Amira, Saood, Dakota, Aleena and Benjamin; and a daughter in law, Rebecca Roberts of Edinburgh.

Granddaughter Amanda Dulaney-Abdur Raheem will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all visitors will be required to provide and wear their own face covering and maintain social distancing.
