Steven Earl Wheatley, 67 of Franklin, passed away on Thursday evening, October 29, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on May 25, 1953 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Norvel and Margaret (Gray) Wheatley. Steve is lovingly survived by his mother, Margaret; sons, Matt Wheatley (Amy) and Jake Wheatley (Liz); grandchildren, Alyssa, Kennedy, Mikayla, Breonna, Brooklyn and Braxton. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Fisher (Mike) and brother, Kevin Wheatley (Becky) and his longtime faithful companion of over twenty years, Lyn Wyand. He was preceded in passing by his father, Norvel.

Steve was a 1971 graduate of Beech Grove High School and Indiana Central University (now University of Indianapolis), receiving his teaching degree.

Steve was employed as a teacher at Franklin Community High School, retiring after thirty plus years.

He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107, F & A M. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, being outdoors and restoring cars and trucks with his brother and picking on his sister, Cheryl and his nieces and nephews. Steve’s world was his grandkids and enjoyed the time spent with all of them.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 3 from 3:00 p.m. to time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 mandates, facial coverings or masks are required for those attending.
