Elwood Norton 89 lifelong resident of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday November 5, 2020 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN. He was born August 26, 1931 in Franklin, IN to Wade and Nannie Lue (Springate) Norton. He married Nancy Ann (McGinnis) Norton on July 27, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on March 1, 1998. He was a 1950 graduate of Alva Neal High School in Franklin. He was a United States Army Veterans having served in Italy at the military post office. He had been a postal carrier of City 7 for the United States Post Office in Franklin for 31 years. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #107, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Johnson County Shrine Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the ROMEO group. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Survivors include his son Brent Alan Norton of Trafalgar, IN, his daughter Kandice Kay Setser (John) of Franklin, IN, two granddaughters Karrianna Dunivan (Dwayne) of Trafalgar, IN and Susannah Weir (Ben) of Trafalgar, IN, six great grandchildren Cayleigh Dunivan, Noah Dunivan, Charlotte Dunivan, Caroline Weir, Emily Weir and Anna Kate Weir, his niece Mary Lue Durbin of Franklin, IN and good friend Glen Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers Sherman Norton and Barry Norton and a sister Hazel Durbin. Gobel Brockman will conduct a service on Tuesday November 10, 2020 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be life-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/elwood-norton. Friends may call Monday from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary where a masonic service will be conducted at 8PM by the Franklin Masonic Lodge #107. Due to COVID-19 mandates, facial coverings or mask are required for those attending. Burial with military honors provide by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
