Edith Ellen Ramsey, 92, formerly of Franklin, Indiana died October 26, 2020 in Fort Myers, Florida.

She was born September 10, 1928 in Estes, Mississippi to the late Samuel and Lola Catherine (Legan) Strickland. On May 16, 1948, she married James Ramsey. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Surviving are a son, Mike (Marti) Ramsey of Franklin; two daughters, Ruth (Ron) Crowder of Foley, Alabama and Diana Miles of Fort Myers, Florida; four grandchildren, Brian (Christine) Crowder of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Kevin (Barriebarbra) Crowder of Noblesville, Kate (Randy) Hastings and Kari Ramsey (Brandon Barrick), both of Los Angeles, California; eight great-grandchildren, Corey (Ariel) Crowder, Caitlyn, Jenna and Jared Crowder, David (Stephanie) Manroe, and Juliet, Lily and Clara Hastings; a sister, Nelda Reed of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Richard Ramsey; son-in-law, Richard “Dick” Miles; a brother, Samuel Alvin Strickland, and two sisters, Amy Klemaszewski and Catherine Speciale.

She was a 1947 graduate of Nineveh High School and a proud supporter of its Alumni Association; attending many reunions over the years. She also attended Ball State University. While still in high school, she worked at Camp Atterbury, along with two of her sisters.

Edith worked as Human Resources Director for Maxicare Health Plans, Indianapolis, and for many years at Bendix Corp in Franklin and RCA, Indianapolis.

She was a member of Southwest Florida Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Florida.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Trafalgar and Nineveh chapters, for over fifty years, and held numerous local and state offices.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, with visitation one hour before. Officiating will be her nephew, Rev. James G. Ramsey. Private interment will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 mandates, facial coverings or masks are required for those attending.
