Wilma “Jean” (Jones) Moore, age 86 passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 20, 2020 at her home in Trafalgar. By her side was her loving daughter, Donna and grandson, Tyler. Jean was a former resident of Brown County.

She was born July 20, 1934 in Windy, Kentucky, to her parents, Henry and Della (Asburry) Jones. Jean was a 1952 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and went on to retire from Community Hospital, where she started as a Qualified Medical Assistant and later retired from Medical Transcription. Prior to that, Jean worked for Brown County Health Care as a QMA. After retirement, Jean enjoyed working as a sub cafeteria worker for Indian Creek Schools.

She married Samuel R. Moore on March 7, 1958 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2002 after 44 loving years of marriage. Jean is also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ruby Thompson and Ralph Jones.

She is survived by her children, Donna Moore and David Moore, both of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Tyler Church of Trafalgar and Josh (Jessie) Moore of Morristown and Jason (Melissa) Tillage of New Palestine; sister, Joyce Jones of Greenfield; step children, Sam (Cheryl) Moore Jr. of Orleans and Gary (Angie) Moore of Shelbyville; and her Red Doberman Pinscher, Mya.

Jean attended the Morgantown United Methodist Church. She loved being in the outdoors working in her yard and tending to her flower gardens. Jean will be remembered as a very caring, nurturing and independent lady who was always on the go and there to help others when needed.

The Rev. Ann Spahr will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. All guests attending visitation and/or services will be required to wear a mask at all times in an effort to promote a safe environment.
