FRANKLIN, INDIANA

James “George” C. King Jr., 83, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20th, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

George was born on September 29th, 1937 in Bondville, Kentucky to the late James C. King Sr. and Catherine (Bast) Martin.

George was a truck driver and delivered pallets for Tranter Industries for 44 years until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed fixing up and selling old houses and was always excited to attend the Bargersville Senior Center, where he loved singing karaoke and visiting all of his friends. We cannot forget Mickey and Carol McTarnsey, who were always there when he needed them. George will be missed by all.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lynn (Sewell) King, of Franklin, Indiana; his 4 children, James C. (Leah) King III, of Greenville, South Carolina, Kenny (Trish) King, Vicki (Tony) Rooks, and Kevin (Rhonda) King, all of Franklin, Indiana; his 9 grandchildren, Christopher King and Luke King, both of Greenville, South Carolina, Mathew King, of Rawleigh, North Carolina, Krista (Brandon) Neuenschwander and Adam (Nicole) Rooks, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kendra (Brandon Bingham) King, Jordan (Nancy) King, Hunter King, and Rilee King, all of Franklin, Indiana; his 13 great-grandchildren, Ann Marie and Isabelle, both of Rawleigh, North Carolina, “Kloe”, Owen, Sullivan, Daxton, and Braddock, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kada, Kenlee, Ryker, Emmaree, Addie, and Zane, all of Franklin, Indiana; lots of nieces and nephews; one of his favorite brother-in-laws, David (Janet) Sewell, of Arkansas.

George was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Catherine; his sister, Maudie M. Stratton; his brother, William Cornish; brother-in-laws.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Franklin Chapel with visitation from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Burial to follow the funeral at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

Per the Indiana State Governor, Eric Holcomb, and the Indiana State Department of Health’s mandate, all services and visitations are limited to 25 people or less as of December 13th, 2020. Masks are mandatory and are to be worn at all times.
