GREENWOOD
Donald L. Jones, 90, of Greenwood, passed away on December 20, 2020. He was born on July 26, 1930 in Jefferson Co. IN to the late John Lester and Mary Josephine “Josie” Jones.
Don graduated from Central High School and was a graduate of the University of Indianapolis. He was a member of Stones Crossing Church, Greenwood. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Don retired from Allison Division, GMC, after 35 years of dedication. After retirement, he volunteered 27 years at Community Hospital South, and 23 years with Habitat for Humanity. Don also enjoyed fishing and boating.
Don is survived by his wife, Esther J. Jones; children, Michael L. (Debra) Jones, Deborah (Jim) Gearing and David Jones; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Glore and Mary Jo Ball.
At this time, services will be held privately at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later time.
Don will be laid to rest in The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Indy Honor Flight.
