INDIANAPOLIS

Mrs. Phyllis Louise Shannon, Indianapolis and formerly of New Whiteland, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, December 21, 2020 at University Heights Health and Living Community. She was 88. Phyllis was born September 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana a daughter of the late Thelma Estelle (Micks) and Earl Harman.

Phyllis attended Arsenal Technical High School and was a happy homemaker for 65 years. Shopping and reading were some of her favorite things to do other than spending time with beloved family and friends. She will always be remembered as a wonderful Mother, Nana/Grandma and a good friend to all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her five children, Chyrl (Steve) Duncan, Indianapolis, Jeffrey (LaDonna) Shannon, Bloomington, Laura (Joe) Robertson, Greenwood, Bruce Shannon, Mooresville and Joseph ‘Andy’ (Oretha) Shannon, Louisville, KY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Linda (Jack) Smith and her brother, William Harman, Sarasota, FL.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of nearly 54 years, Joseph Eugene Shannon, whom she married March 25, 1950; a sister, Carole Sweezy and her brothers, Richard Harman and Michael Harman.

A private family entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
