Mildred Meyers Scott, 91, of Franklin, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 in Franklin, Indiana.

Mildred was born September 18, 1929 in Decatur, Illinois to Earl & Leata (Toole) Meyers. After the death of her mother in 1940; Mildred moved to Middletown, Indiana to live with her aunt and uncle, Harl Bruce and Dorothy Bruce. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1948.

While attending Middletown High School; she met Elvin Paul Scott. They were married February 20th, 1949 and celebrated 71 years of marriage last year. They started farming in Henry County, Indiana in 1949. In 1964, they moved to Markleville, Indiana and started Vogel & Scott Toole Co.

Mildred enjoyed a number of activities, such as taking care of her flower gardens and her many house plants. She also had a collection of thimbles and depression glass dinnerware. She was always excited to find new and unique pieces of her collections while traveling. She and Elvin made several trips to Europe and the Greek Islands. Mildred and Elvin visited Switzerland twice; and was one of her favorite places.

One of her most memorable trips was with the Murat Shrine Indianapolis Horse Patrol in December of 1978. Members hauled 33 head of palomino horses, silver saddles and bridles from Indiana to California for the New Years Day Rose Bowl Parade in 1979. She also enjoyed traveling to watch her grandson, Tyler Baumgardt compete as a youth in National Reining Horse Associations shows throughout the midwest and in Oklahoma City.

She loved volunteering to drive children to be treated at the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals in Ohio and Kentucky. She was a member of the North Christian Church in Markleville, Indiana. Mildred also was Indiana member of the Shriners Ladies Guild and The Shriners Ladies Bowling League. She always enjoyed Past Directors Ladies luncheons, which were held once a month.

In her later years, she was an avid fan of college basketball , especially March Madness. She became a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Green Bay Packers.

Mildred is survived by her beloved husband, Elvin of Franklin, Indiana; her two children, Sharon (James) Baumgardt, of Zionsville, Indiana and Jerry (Lou Anne) Scott, of Missouri; her son-in-law, Mike Walker, of Calhoun, Georgia; her seven grandchildren, Tyler (Trisha) Baumgardt, Bridget Simmons, Jesse Scott, Clay Scott, Jenna (Mason) Todd, Clinton Wilson, and Catrina Woody; her ten great-grandchildren and her three great-great grandchildren.

Mildred is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Scott Walker, and her parents; Earl and Leata Meyers.

A celebration of life will be conducted in the spring at a future date.
