Donald E. Goen, 87, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. Donald was born April 10, 1933, in Indianapolis, IN. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN and was a United States Army Veteran. Donald worked for the Ford Motor Company on English Avenue in Indianapolis, retiring after forty years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 1111.

Donald enjoyed spending time with family and friends, vacationing on Marco Island, his dog Ella, gardening, nature and working on crossword puzzles. He always had a witty story or one-liner to share.

Donald married Linda M. (Graves) Goen on January 16, 1982, in Indianapolis, IN and she survives him.

Other survivors include his daughters, Mary Ellen (David) Ward of Indianapolis, IN, Susan M. (Dave) Coffey of Columbus, IN, and Lauren M. (Brent) Lay of Bargersville, IN; his eight grandchildren, Maggie (Nathan) Moore, Kelly (James) Chamberlin, Nicholas Coffey, Jacob Coffey (fianc? Molly Miller), Ian Coffey, Allison Coffey, Molly Lay and Cameron Lay; his three great-grandchildren, Avery Moore, Eli Moore, and Logan Chamberlin; and a brother, Paul Kenneth Goen of Carmel, IN.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Homer E. Goen, mother, Sarah (Wiley) Francis, and infant sister, Dolores Goen.

Due to COVID-19 mandates, the Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a private family service on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 2:30 PM, which will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/donald-goen. A public visitation will take place on Friday, February 5, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, located at 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, Indiana. Facial coverings and social distancing are required for those attending.
