James C. Haskell Sr., age 84, formerly of Greenwood, IN passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Gainesville, FL.

He attended Morgantown HS, where he played varsity basketball. Jim was a member of Teamsters Local 135 and Faith Assembly of God Church in Beech Grove. He was a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne of the US Army. After serving his country, he became a semi driver and retired at the helm of our family company, Buddy Ann Realty.

He enjoyed fishing all over the country, IU basketball, card games (especially rummy and euchre), TV Westerns, and boating.

Jim was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, gave the best hugs, and never met a stranger. He mentored his children’s friends and treated them like his own. He was known for his big smile and bigger belly laugh, as he always was having fun.

Preceded in death by his parents: Pearl Mae Jacobs and Edward Slinger, siblings: Louise List, Joseph Haskell, Joyce Mattingly, and first wife Anna Friedman Haskell.

Jim is survived by wife Barbara Wilson Haskell, sister; Delores Williams, son; James C. Haskell Jr. (Rob Keller), daughter; Joanie Haskell, step-daughter; Peggy Voris Maness (Cecil), step-son; Greg Voris (Nancy), step-daughter; Vicky Buckner (John Durrance), several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family will host a graveside service in late spring at the Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana. A celebration of life will follow, details will be provided at a later date.

If desired, friends and family may make memorial contributions to the Haven Hospice ET York Care Center of Gainesville, FL – where he received excellent care.
