FRANKLIN, INDIANA
Paul Amos Downey, 89, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Greenfield, Indiana.
Paul was born on May 25, 1931 in Greensburg, Indiana to the late Amos Carl Downey and Mary Marie (Davison) Downey.
Paul married the love of his life, the late Gladys Leora (Cuskaden) Downey, on June 23, 1951 in Shelbyville, Indiana. They were married for 68 wonderful years.
Paul was employed as a supervisor of bread and milk route sales from 1951 to 1963 and then became a truck driver and instructor for McLean Trucking Company from 1963 to 1985. He later worked for Pinkerton Security and Mooresville Christian Church as a custodian from 1985 to 2004.
Paul was a member of the Model “A” Greenwood Restorer’s Club, the Mid Hoosier A’s, from 1984 to 2010. He had a strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church in Whiteland, Indiana from 1963 until his passing.
Paul is survived by his four sons, Michiael A. “Mike” (Kimberly) Downey of Bluffton, Indiana, Stephen Patrick “Pat” (Diana) Downey of Greenwood, Indiana, Paul Thomas “Tom” (Debra) Downey of Clanton, Alabama, and Chris DeWayne (Michaelle) Downey of Clayton, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Kim Kohne, Jason Downey, Bridget Shives, Bob Downey, Matt Downey, Brooke Tandy, Amber Arme, Paige Rizzo, and Jesse VanZant; 22 great-grandchildren, Josh Kohne, Sam Kohne, Bailey Shives, Riley Shives, Deven Downey, Madyson Downey, Michiael Downey, Logan Downey, Kailey Downey, Angel Downey, Tegan Downey, Corban Downey, Esther Downey, Xavier Downey, Isaac Downey, Katie Downey, Ayden Downey, Cooper Tandy, Hudson Tandy, Piper Tandy, Hunter Reynolds, and Ella Reynolds.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his son, Timothy “Tim” Downey; his parents, Amos and Mary; one brother, Jerry Downey; three sisters, Wanda Lou Downey, Glenda Jo Hart, and Shirley Hamer.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Victory Baptist Church in Whiteland, Indiana. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 11:00am at Victory Baptist Church with visitation from 10:00am until the funeral hour. Paul will be laid to rest at Star Baptist Cemetery in Decatur County, Indiana.
