On March 7, 2021, Dr. Steven Allen Clark, beloved father, devoted husband, brother, and friend to all, passed away suddenly. He was 67 years old.
Steve was born in March 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ruth Middleton Clark and Norman Clark. He grew up in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana with his younger sister, Ann, and attended Southport High School, graduating in 1971. Later, he graduated from Purdue University and Indiana University Medical School, where he met the love of his life, Diana Dunn. They married in September 1978 in Indianapolis.
Dr. Clark was well-known across the Franciscan Health practice as a warm and intelligent physician. In December 2020, he retired, looking forward to spending more time with family, relaxing in Florida, and cycling across the US with his wife. Steve was honored as the distinguished physician 2014.
Steve was a steadfast and generous husband and father. He and Diana raised four successful and equally generous sons, Jonathan, Michael, Daniel, and Benjamin. Steve looked forward to any moment he could spend with his grandchildren: Cole, Henry, William, Victoria, Catherine, and Gwendolyn. Grandpa Steve could always be expected to give chase playing tag around the house and serve lavish scoops (and seconds and thirds) of ice cream.
Steve will be remembered for being as big-hearted as he was efficient. Friends, colleagues, and family could always count on him for a helping hand. He would, quite literally, bike or drive cross-country to be of service to a loved one. As an avid cyclist, he and Diana traversed Europe and the United States, exploring unique locations as they biked miles a day, and delighted in finding a good cup of bold coffee at a café. If Steve had any vices, it would be his love of coffee and chocolate.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana; children Jonathan (Jennifer), Michael (Emily), Daniel (Amanda), Benjamin (Lyndsie); sister Ann Kunz (Trey); and his six grandchildren.
