Boys golf

Trojans win at Floyd

Third-ranked Center Grove took the team title at the Floyd Central Invitational on Saturday, posting a score of 306 to beat Bloomington South and Columbus North by 11 strokes. Luke Beetz led a balanced Trojans lineup with a 75, while Sam Slaughter, Brandon Heffner and Sam Hord each carded a 77.

Grizzly Cubs take second

Damon Dickey was the individual runner-up with a 74 and 13th-ranked Franklin earned a second-place team finish at Players Club. The Grizzly Cubs totaled 328, one shot behind No. 10 Yorktown.

Softball

Trojans split at Pendleton

Center Grove opened with a 10-4 win over Elwood at the Pendleton Heights tournament on Saturday before following with a 6-0 setback against Class 4A No. 5 Lake Central. In the opener, the Trojans (6-2) were led by Emma Wheatley, who was 2 for 2 with a homer and four runs scored, as well as Hannah Haberstroh (3 for 5, 3 RBIs) and Payton Shimansky (2 for 2, double, triple). Abbi Patton was the winning pitcher.

Franklin College

Grizzlies outslug Manchester

Ryan Bixler homered twice, Colby Reed hit a crucial grand slam and Nick Wright also went yard as Franklin College topped Manchester, 12-8, on Saturday. Bixler was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and four driven in for the Grizzlies (12-5). 

Track and field competes at Manchester

Frankin College’s men were sixth and the women eighth at the Manchester Invitational on Saturday. Dalen Williams was the lone individual winner for the Grizzlies, taking the men’s discus with a throw of 41.69 meters.
