GREENWOOD
Paul Meredith Reed, 78, went peacefully to Heaven on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was a resident of Greenwood.
Paul was born on September 13, 1942 in Casey County, Kentucky. He was the youngest son of the late Lewis Alan and Chelcie Opal (Cochran) Reed. He married Peggy Statom on June 7, 1962 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, KY. Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Reed of Greenwood; two daughters, Paula (Joe) Kizzee and Penny (David) Foster both of Greenwood; four grandchildren Logan Kizzee, Mikayla Kizzee, Madison Foster, and Mya Foster, and great granddaughter Natalie Kizzee. Also surviving are his brother, Edward (Shirley) Reed of Liberty, KY, and sister Jeannie (Kenneth) Wilson of Huntsville, AL; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law George (Evelyn) Reed, and brother Curtis Reed.
Paul never met a stranger in his life and was very involved in the Johnson County community, having helped to establish Center Grove Lassie League and serving for years as a coach and board member, serving one term on the Center Grove School Board, and one term on the Johnson County Council. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
His career in the transportation industry spanned almost 5 decades working in various sales, marketing, and operations rolls with Indiana Transit Service, Branch Motor Express, Spartan Express, Overnite Transportation, ultimately concluding with his retirement in 2009 from UPS Freight. After retiring, he continued serving his community on a part-time basis at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory.
Paul was a founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church; and at the time of his passing was a member of Gracepoint Church in New Whiteland.
Paul was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, dear friends, and all who knew him.
Calling hours will be from 10-1PM, Thursday, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street. Pastor Jeremy Atwood will officiate a funeral service at 1PM, and will be livestreamed on his tribute page at www.stpierrefamilyfuneral.com. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
