GREENWOOD
Mr. Oren Dean Flake, Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, June 6, 2021. He was 77. Oren was born in Whiteland, Indiana a son of the late O. Harvey and Mildred Marie (McCarty) Flake.
Oren was a graduate of Martinsville High School and had been employed with Indianapolis Power and Light, retiring in 2001 after 40 plus years of service. To say he loved golf was an understatement. He lived to play the game and was rather good at playing. He was an old car enthusiast and was very strong in his beliefs. Always making time for his friends, he could be found at his favorite restaurant, O’Charley’s or enjoying a refreshing helping of ice cream at Dairy Queen.
Oren deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and was a devoted husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He attended Concordia Lutheran Church of Greenwood.
Oren is survived by his children, Angie (Shanon) Redmon, Edward (Heather) Flake and Fred (Patricia) Flake; his grandchildren, Sophia Redmon, Chase Redmon, Logan Flake, Collin Lewis, Ashley Byers, Chad Flake and Kara Flake as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Betty Lynne (Roth) Flake a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Robinson and a brother Ivan Flake.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
