Joyce Ann (Martin) Plummer, 86, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday July 25, 2021 at Life’s Journey of Avon.
She was born August 22, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN to George W. Martin and Naomi (Stinson) Martin. She married the love of her life, Morris Allen Plummer, on February 12, 1956 at Old Bethel Church in Indianapolis, IN. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2021.
Joyce was a 1953 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis. She worked many jobs throughout her life, including LS Ayres and Indiana Bell Telephone Co. as a young adult. She spent many years creating and maintaining a loving home for her family. Later she worked for Indianapolis Public Schools and Warren Township Public Schools as a reading tutor and teacher’s aide. She also spent several years doing volunteer service for Community Hospital, East. Joyce’s favorite activities always involved spending time with her family and long-time personal friends.
Survivors include a son Mark Plummer (Angie) of Plainfield, IN, daughters Linda Reno (Daniel) of Noblesville, IN and Christy Cummins (Gary) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Matthew Plummer, Sam Cummins, Andrew Reno, Anna Reno, Jenna Reno and Danielle Garver Stokes, six great grandchildren, a sister Mary Ellen Burns of Greenwood, IN and a brother Wayne Martin of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Ronald Martin.
Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a memorial service at 2pm on Friday July 30, 2021 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call from 1PM Friday until service time at the mortuary. The service will be live-streamed for family and friends at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/joyce-plummer. Inurnment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. later in August.
