Gerald Edward Coyle

Gerald Edward Coyle, 79, resident of Trafalgar, Indiana passed away at his residence on Monday, July 5th, 2021.

Gerald was born May 10, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Paul Anthony and Dorothy Pearl (Dwigins) Coyle.

Gerald married his wife, Janet Coyle on March, 10, 1995 in Edinburgh, Indiana. They were married for twenty-six wonderful years.

Gerald proudly served in the United States Navy and later worked in law enforcement as a police officer. He worked for the Indianapolis Police Department for twenty years and was an active member in the Fraternal Order of Police until his retirement. Gerald had a talent for music and was a skilled musician. He was the lead singer and played the saxophone in his band The Memories. Together they recorded albums, travelled, and amassed a loyal fanbase who will dearly miss his music.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Janet Coyle; his six children, Daniel “Danny” Coyle of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charla Coyle, of Franklin, Indiana, Melissa (Jason) Holden of Colorado, Matthew Payne, of Greenwood, Indiana, Michael Payne, of Ohio, and Julie Kimmerle, of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sister, Patty Retig, of Plainfield, Indiana; his brother, Paul Coyle, of Ohio; his fourteen grandchildren, Savanah Coyle, Brooke Freeman, Lindsey Freeman, Cole Holden, Abbi Holden, Jase Holden, Scarlett Holden, Lexi Hensley, Josie Payne, Hannah Payne, Lily Payne, Craig Kimmerle, Michael Kimmerle, and Dustin Hoskins; and his ten great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Maisson, Lelynd, Raeleigh, Greysyn, Kaylynn Hoskins, Kyleigh Hoskins, Korbyn Hoskins, Jaylen Hoskins and Bailey Hoskins.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Jessen Funeral Home Whiteland Chapel.
