SSG Jake L. Holley

NEW WHITELAND

Retired, SSG Jake L. Holley, 41, of New Whiteland passed away in his sleep on September 9, 2021. He was born in Hamilton, Montana to David B. Holley on September 18, 1979.

Jake is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Jennifer; children, Alara (9) and Rowan (4); father, David; sisters, Lauren (Holley) Southgate, Sydnie (Adams) Wheeler; stepbrother, Colin Nisbet; extended family, ten nieces, and nephews; his in-laws, Maria, Tyler, Danielle, Shaun, Caleb, Brayden, Skylie, Storm, and Alessa; life-long best friends, Robert Lorenzoni and Kyle Jordan; and his former right-hand man at work and friend, Josh Mann.

Jake is preceded in death by his “Grammy”, Jean R. Holley, and “Pop”, Donald L. Holley.

Jake was a proud Army Veteran with nearly 10 years of service as a 19K30 M1 Armor Crewman with 3/69 Armor at Fort Stewart, GA until his retirement. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), USA/USAF Presidential Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.

Jake took great enjoyment working on cars and had made it his career after his Army retirement.

Jake and Jennifer would have celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary this Christmas Eve and had spent the last 24 years of their lives together.

He is deeply loved and will forever be missed.

The funeral service will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, IN with visitation starting at 2:00 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Indiana Funeral Care in Jake’s memory to assist with funeral expenses.
