Raymond Wickham

GULFPORT, FL

Raymond A. Wickham age 82, of Gulfport, Florida died unexpectedly on August 28, 2021 in Portage, Michigan. He was born on April 24, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Ralph and Eileen (Rawhouser) Wickham. He married his wife Sandra (Ferguson) in August 1957 and they raised 4 children.

Raymond was a graduate of Mt Pleasant High School. He and Sandy moved to Greenwood, Indiana after his service with the US Army. He was a founding partner of SanJo Steel, Inc of Greenwood. Ray and Sandy established Fox Hill Llamas, breeding champion llamas from their farm in Franklin, Indiana before retiring to the St Pete Beach area of Florida. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed watching wildlife and boating activity on the waters beside their homes in Florida and Savannah, Georgia as well as travelling the US with his wife. He was soft spoken, but when he did speak he was full of quiet humor and an astute observer of life.

Ray’s life will be celebrated at Wilmington Plantation, 700 Wilmington Island Rd, Savannah, Georgia 31410 at 10am on October 16, 2021. Memorials may be directed to the Alpaca and Llama Show Association, 7198 Westwood Way, Sarasota FL 34241.

Raymond is survived by his wife Sandra, brother Carl (Diane) Wickham, sons Ray (Julie) Wickham of Sumerduck, Virginia and Bruce (Charron) Wickham of Pinellas Park Florida, daughters Robin (Mike) Wendland of Portage, Michigan and Sherry Wickham of Joshua Tree, California, as well as grandchildren Reed Wickham and Elyza (Tommy) James, and great-grandchildren Kaileigh and Kian. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Calyssa Wickham.
