Girls basketball

Braves dominate Monrovia

Faith Wiseman collected 17 points and 15 rebounds, leading Indian Creek to a 64-26 rout of Monrovia on Saturday. Lauren Foster and Emily Todor added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Braves (1-1), while Savannah Hall contributed seven points and 10 boards.

Franklin College

Swimmers sweep road meets

Franklin College continued its perfect start to the season, with the men and women both rolling to weekend dual-meet victories over Transylvania and Centre. Campbell Coyle and diver Gauge Creech each collected four first-place finishes overall for the Grizzly men, while Caileigh McCafferty totaled three individual wins on the women’s side.

Cross country finishes fall season

Eight different runners established personal bests as Franklin College wrapped its season at the Great Lakes Regional in Shelbyville on Saturday. John Asplund led the Grizzly men to a 27th-place showing, while Haley Makowski helped the women place 30th.

Powerlifting

Doublin fourth at worlds

Franklin native Kloie Doublin, making her international debut in equipped powerlifting, finished fourth in the 76-kilogram division at the IPF World Open Women’s Championships in Stavanger, Norway. Doublin, a former raw powerlifting world champion, squatted 230 kg (507.6 pounds), bench pressed 150 kg (330.7 pounds) and deadlifted 222.5 kg (490.5 pounds).
