Greenwood teacher, coach arrested on child seduction charges

Police arrested a Greenwood teacher Monday afternoon.

Matthew Hockersmith, 40, was arrested on three counts of child seduction. The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing charges which will likely be filed Tuesday, according to a Greenwood Police Department news release.

Hockersmith, a science teacher and cross country coach at Greenwood Community High School, was placed on immediate administrative leave pending an investigation by Greenwood police, superintendent Terry Terhune said in an email to parents.
