TRAFALGAR
Nina Jeanne (May) Gibson 93 of Trafalgar, IN passed away Friday January 14, 2022, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. She was born April 9, 1928, in Big Four, West Virginia to Charlie Clyde May and Mae (Greathead) May. She married Harold Smith “Jack” Gibson on December 24, 1949, he preceded her in death on April 1, 1994.
Nina was the 9th child of 12. She was the last of her siblings to depart this world.
She was a natural born artist, specifically a painter. She was part of many craft shows and events to sell her hand-painted duck eggs. Crafting was her most precious and solitary past time, her hobby continued until she was 92.
She enjoyed Halloween and seeing the small children in there, “cute and adorable costumes.” She also enjoyed the beautiful light shows at the Johnson County Horse Park.
Nina could always be found with a special stash of chocolates and would share her food with anyone and everyone. She developed a love of music early on in her life, as she recounted the memory of her grandfather and his expert fiddle playing. She spoke of him as the most important influence in her teenage years. Her enthusiasm for life and her family will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her four sons David Gibson (Becky) of Greenwood, IN, Dan Gibson (Beverly) of Davenport, Florida, Russell Gibson of Indianapolis, IN and Mike Gibson (Susan) of Mooresville, IN, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Smith “Jack” Gibson and her daughter Jennifer Lynn (Gibson) Johnson on January 13, 2022.
A service will be live-streamed for family and friends to attend on Saturday January 22, 2022, at 3PM at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/nina-gibson.
Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
