Duke Energy upgrading underground lines in White River Township

Crews from Duke Energy are working to replace more than 2,500 feet of underground power lines along several streets near State Road 135 in White River Township.

More than 1,600 feet of underground power lines will be replaced along Buckmoor Circle, Buckmoor Parkway, Wembley Road and Winchester Boulevard. Additionally, the utility will replace more than 500 feet of underground lines along Maple Grove Drive and more than 400 feet of underground lines located on the southeast corner of West Smith Valley Road and North State Road 135, according to a Duke Energy news release.

Upgrading the underground power lines will make them more reliable and reduce the risk of prolonged power outages for homes and businesses in the area in the future, the news release says.

Work on these projects is currently underway and is expected to conclude by June. Customers may see large electric utility equipment in the work areas, including utility trucks and digging and boring equipment, the release says.
