County Road 144 to close east of State Road 37 Monday

Drivers who frequent the County Road 144 and State Road 37 intersection should be prepare for an up to four-week closure of County Road 144 for road work.

County Road 144 is expected to close on or after 7 a.m. Monday east of State Road 37 for a drainage structure replacement and interchange modifications. The road will not be accessible from either northbound or southbound State Road 37, and there will also not be access to the Eastern Service Road as well, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.

The closure is expected to last up to four weeks, the news release says.

During the closure, westbound traffic should take State Road 135 to Smith Valley Road to State Road 37 to State Road 144. Eastbound traffic should take State Road 37 to Smith Valley Road to State Road 135 to County Road 144 in Bargersville, INDOT officials say.

Motorists can also access State Road 37 from the Whiteland Road/County Road 144 roundabout by following Whiteland Road to Banta Road to the traffic signal at State Road 37, INDOT officials said.

An additional two-week closure for County Road 144 is expected sometime in the future as the Johnson County Highway Department is planning to replace three drainage culverts along County Road 144 between State Road 37 and Smokey Row Road. Details about these closures are expected to be available within the next few weeks, according to the news release.
