Jean Claire Palmer

INDIANAPOLIS

Jean Claire (White) Palmer, 92, passed away on July 7, 2022 at her residence at Hoosier Village in Indianapolis. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.

Jean was born on February 22, 1930 in Muncie, Indiana to Clarence White and Mary (Waldo) White. She married Harley P. Palmer, MD on September 28, 1956. He preceded her in passing on December 14, 1987. Jean is survived by her children, Tom Palmer (Kim), Bruce Palmer (Amy), and Jane Murray (Drew); 4 grandchildren, Meredith Murray, Hannah Harlow (Stewart), JP Palmer, and Allison Palmer; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, her sister Doris White, and her husband, Harley.

Jean graduated from Cowan High School and later graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s in Nursing. She went on to work at Ball Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. Jean was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jean spent many years volunteering: 30 years at Johnson Memorial Hospital, 6 years with Americare Hospice, as well as The Children’s Museum, United Way, and Franklin College.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any organization or charity of donor’s choice.
