Boys tennis

Grizzly Cubs take nail-biter

Franklin got three set wins at third singles (Nathan Neville) and second doubles (Pryce Rucker and Luke Sherry) to pull out a 3-2 victory over Shelbyville on Wednesday. Reid Davidson gave the Grizzly Cubs another point by winning in straight sets at No. 2 singles.

Woodmen edge Wildcats

Greenwood came away with a 3-2 home win over Lawrence North. Noah Paswater and Carter Chatham were victorious in the top two singles spots for the Woodmen (2-1), while Aidyn Green and Blake Reynolds claimed the No. 1 doubles point.

Creek sweeps Brown County

Indian Creek got its season started with a 5-0 rout of Brown County. Peyton Strunk, Brendan Conner and Grant Dalton took the three singles points, and Aiden Pemberton and Landon Sichting won at first doubles.

Lancers, Braves come up short

Edinburgh and Indian Creek both took heartbreaking losses at Timbergate on Wednesday, with the Lancers (219) falling to Greensburg by one shot and the Braves (221) just off the pace. Izzy Richardson led Edinburgh with a 47, while Reese Tunell paced Indian Creek with a 56.

Woodmen fall to Olympians

Despite a 44 from Gracie Gasaway, Greenwood suffered a 186-197 setback to Columbus East at Otter Creek. Emma Baker and Lucia Agresta each finished with a 50 for the Woodmen, while Celia Stanley added a 53.

Warriors drop league matches

Whiteland fell short in matches against Mid-State Conference rivals Plainfield and Mooresville. Chloe Cooper led the Warriors with a 50, followed closely by Kylie McGovern (52), Elyana Taylor (54) and Karley Hoagland (55).

Whiteland defeated by Quakers

A shorthanded Whiteland team lost to Plainfield, 6-1, on Wednesday. McKinley Garrett scored the lone goal for the Warriors (0-2, 0-1 Mid-State).

Trojans battle to draw

Emily Karr scored two goals, including one off a Taylor Wert corner kick with under a minute to go, as Class 3A No. 7 Center Grove came away with a 2-2 tie at No. 13 Bloomington South. Wert and Ella DeWitt had assists for the Trojans (2-0-1).

Sparkplugs tame Warriors

Whiteland suffered a 5-1 defeat against Speedway on Tuesday night. Nalon Knight scored the lone goal for the Warriors off an assist from Yahir Lugardo.

Braves swept by Artesians

Indian Creek came up on the wrong end of a 25-21, 25-21, 25-16 score against Martinsville on Tuesday. Memoree Weekley had eight kills for the Braves (1-2), while Grayson Burkett contributed 12 assists.
